Cobb woman gets four years for embezzling $224,000 from employer …
Anonymous — The sense of entitlement shown by (Sherri Burton Blount), without regard to her family or her daughter, is pathetic. She had everything given to her, making over $100,000 per year, yet her twisted version of responsibility was to steal like a common criminal from the people who trusted her. Of course (former Cobb Commissioner Emmett) Burton is her father and this has hit hard, but back in the day, were it anyone else — I mean anyone — he’d have been the first to say, “Lock her up.”
Shame on parents! — Burton wants to blame everyone else but his daughter. He says she got mixed up with bad people. There were no bad people. She did this all by herself because she was greedy and money hungry.
Former coworker — She should be glad she took got such a light sentence.
Stand Back! — Look at the expressions on the parents! Not a word of apology to those their stealing daughter hurt. They both deserve a good slap in the face for raising — and defending — the crook they gave birth to and raised.
MAY-RETTA SURVIVOR —Such Arrogance! Blount’s parents should have a cell next to their daughter’s!
NotSoPC — From what I can recall amount Emmett Burton in his tenure at the Cobb County Commission it looks like “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Just me — When Mr. Burton says she has lived the worst hell in the last year in a half. Mr. Burton, your daughter stole the lively hood from this company. Her hell is her own doing. Maybe you should quit trying to bail her out and practice tough love.
Anonymous — “Oliver Halle, a retired FBI agent who now consults with companies about preventing white-collar crime, said that while some try to downplay its effects, ‘economic violence,’ as he called it, destroys lives.” Redefining violence by using the term “violence” to describe non-violent acts — such as embezzlement — is not just wrong, but does nothing to make an FBI agent who does so, seem credible to honest people who listen to what is being said. It is what makes law abiding citizens question the forthrightness/honesty of people in law enforcement/government. Now let’s see if Mr. Halle starts telling us how much “violent” crime has increased in Cobb County.
You are right — You are absolutely right it is NOT the same, it is worse. This woman looked at an employer who TRUSTED her and she stole from them repeatedly. I would almost prefer to be held up by a desperate common criminal over being betrayed and robbed by a person close to me whom I trusted my business with. Her deception and thievery is a whole lot more “in your face” than a gun. Thank you, Judge Grubbs and Mr. Halle, for keeping businesses safe from evil people of this caliber. The only remorse this woman has is that she was caught.
Woman killed after attacking policeman …
Follow up — I hope this newspaper follows up this story. I, too, am interested in which mosque she goes to. This whole thing just sounds kind of strange and unfinished. Very odd.
Concerned Patriot — Here is what she posted on the blog Atlas Shrugs last year. She posted hundreds of such rants: “ALLAH is the greatest, ALLAH is ALIVE, but the Christian’s god is only a partially eaten, Jew corpse. ALLAHU AKBAR you rabid, Jew-eating, racist, Christian, cannibals of extremely low intelligence. … Only Allah’s Warriors can put-down the rabid, corpse-eating, blood-drinking, Christian savages and send them to their partially-eaten, Jew corpse they call god.” I wonder where she worshipped? Are there more like her? Certainly. Thank you, Cobb Police, for taking this dangerous woman off the street.
Samuel Adams — It would appear this woman has perpetrated her own little Christmas day jihad, luring police there in order to hurt or possibly kill them. Suicide by cop isn’t even the correct term for this. I had read that she’s threatened reporters and bloggers in the past as well as her threats towards elected officials. Will we see the results of an apartment search? Doubtful. I hope the Marietta Daily Journal asks some questions about this one.
Don’t understand — If it was known that this woman had made such threatening acts to lawmakers, why was she allowed to run around free? She was obviously a danger to others. Well, at least the taxpayers want have to spend money on a trial.
Hang ’em high — Case Closed!!! Justice served.

The legal system has dealt with Ms. Blount's actions and the whole situation- for Ms. Blount, her daughter, her parents, AND for the company for which she was employed is very tragic and sad for everyone involved. We should all be praying for healing for all involved instead of ridiculing the parents.
