Sprayberry at East Paulding

DALLAS - With the help of Kamani Thomas and a stifling defense, East Paulding rolled to a 31-0 victory over the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets at The Boneyard Friday.

The score was already 24-0 at the half when Sprayberry coach Billy Shackelford had an opportunity to send a message to his team.

"(During halftime) I told the guys...that I would learn more about their character in the next two quarters than I have maybe in the last four months," Sprayberry coach Billy Shackleford said. "Everybody battles when it's even, everybody battles when its close, but it takes a real champion - a guy with guts and grit to battle when you're down."

The Yellow Jackets (2-3, 1-1) played better, but it was too much East Paulding.

The Raiders (6-0, 3-0) remain undefeated, and coach John Reid's defense hasn't allowed a point since beating Douglas County 51-6 Sept. 9.

Kamani Thomas led the way running for 91 yards and three touchdowns.

East Paulding received the ball first, and Christian Browder charged down the sideline 81 yards, before being caught by Myles Atkins at the Yellow Jacket 14-yard line. The Sprayberry defense forced the Raiders to try a field goal on fourth and 8, but Miles Hemphill pushed the 29-yard kick wide right.

On their next drive, the Raiders put together a 10-play drive that ended with a Hemphill field goal, this time from 24 yards out.

When they got the ball back, East Paulding marched right back down into Yellow Jacket territory, and this time Mitchell Webb found Andrej Suttles for a 25-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left in the first quarter.

After the next Jacket three-and-out, East Paulding only needed one play to take advantage of an errant punt that started them at the Sprayberry 28-yard line. Thomas found a hole in the right side of the line and darted to the end zone for his first score of the night.

Thomas would again show his elusiveness, dodging several Yellow Jackets before punching it in again on second-and-goal from the 9-yard line with 3:13 left in the first half. The score would remain at 24-0 through the half.

The Yellow Jackets held the Raiders to just one more score, an acrobatic leap by Thomas over the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown with 7:39 left in the game.

We are glad we already played yall. Once your coaches figure out to pass the ball yall will be a great team. Your run game is bad. An once yall fix your offensive line. they were sleeping!

we cant compete cause we have no playbook, we pratice all week just to QB draw left and right. our WR's are useless our linemen are tired from the constant run blocking, are we gonna pass the ball??? we make it easy for teams to beat us each week, the team follows coach shack orders but we have no say so on his coaching and poor play calling, even players from last season lost hope in shack

MDJ your facts are a little off. Terrel Hanna #2 ran the ball 81 yards on the kick-off. This kid is an amazing athlete, remember his name!

Idea;...SWAP your offensive & defensive tackles, THEN their techniques would be better served !

Same problem all year long ,..QB with a MILLION DOLLAR ARM , intelligent reads def well, but CANT do ANYTHING because (1) NO "O" line, he doesn't even have time for a 3 step drop , (2) Recievers continually DROP passes ,(3) OFFENSIVE SCHEME , WAIT !. there is NO offensive scheme !...I rest my case ...............

Witnessed the so called game last night. Raiders looked great as always. I am glad we are 5-0 and thank Sprayberry's play calling for making it so easy. My daughter was calling their next play from the stands..too predictable. They could have passed more against us if they had some protection from the line. WAY TO GO RAIDERS!

Sprayberrey doesn't even need receivers. And they could as easily have a lineman play Qb since they don't need to throw the ball.

All the fans in the stands felt so bad for our boys. They know they can't win with this play book. Give them a chance coach.

It is bad when the band is making fun of our team......Enough said!

Coach Shackleford apparently does not know how to mix up his offense. HE could have thrown the ball all night against E.P. They played 5 and 10 yards off their receivers. Not one curl route or slant the whole night. Terrible !!!!!!
