The Cobb County Police Department has released the names of the people involved in an accident late Monday night that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to Officer Mike Bowman with Cobb Police, Laquan Hilton, 17, of Acworth, was dead at the scene of a wreck that took place on Piedmont Road at the intersection of Bells Ferry Road in Marietta around 11 p.m. Monday.

Investigators who responded to the scene said a 2006 Kia Sorento, driven by 26-year-old Michael Williams of Marietta, was headed eastbound on Piedmont Road when he collided with a 1990 Mazda Miata driven by 19-year-old Gabriel Hidalgo of Woodstock after he initiated a u-turn from westbound Piedmont Road.

As Hidalgo made the turn, he hit Williams’ car in the passenger side door where Hilton was seated, killing the teenager.

Hidalgo and Williams were both taken by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta and are both listed in stable condition.
