With the recent Diamond Jubilee celebration the spotlight is once again on the British Royal Family. But some say the royals have outlived their historic purpose. What do you think?

Is the British royal family still needed?

Years ago, I had occasion to meet Queen Elizabeth. To this day, I remember her soft spokenness, perfect manners and impeccable social grace. Do we need people like the Royals? I would say yes...if only to emulate as role models on how to behave in public!

I would far rather have a monarch who has no political interest, and is only interested in the wellbeing of the WHOLE populace, than some failed power hungry politician. Ask yoursaelves--why do politicians stand for presidency--simply for POWER over you. Queen Elizabeth didn't ask to be the monarch and Prince William has openly said he doesn't look forward to being King, but will have to. Give me someone like that anyday.
